fs/dcache.c: add cond_resched() to shrink_dcache_parent()

Call cond_resched() in shrink_dcache_parent() to maintain interactivity.

Before this patch:

select_parent() populates the dispose list with dentries which
shrink_dentry_list() then deletes.  select_parent() carefully uses
need_resched() to avoid doing too much work at once.  But neither
shrink_dcache_parent() nor its called functions call cond_resched().  So
once need_resched() is set select_parent() will return single dentry
dispose list which is then deleted by shrink_dentry_list().  This is
inefficient when there are a lot of dentry to process.  This can cause
softlockup and hurts interactivity on non preemptable kernels.

This change adds cond_resched() in shrink_dcache_parent().  The benefit
of this is that need_resched() is quickly cleared so that future calls
to select_parent() are able to efficiently return a big batch of dentry.

These additional cond_resched() do not seem to impact performance, at
least for the workload below.

Here is a program which can cause soft lockup if other system activity
sets need_resched().

inotify: invalid mask should return a error number but not set it

When we run the crackerjack testsuite, the inotify_add_watch test is
stalled.

This is caused by the invalid mask 0 - the task is waiting for the event
but it never comes.  inotify_add_watch() should return -EINVAL as it did
before commit 676a0675cf92 ("inotify: remove broken mask checks causing
unmount to be EINVAL").  That commit removes the invalid mask check, but
that check is needed.

Check the mask's ALL_INOTIFY_BITS before the inotify_arg_to_mask() call.
If none are set, just return -EINVAL.

Because IN_UNMOUNT is in ALL_INOTIFY_BITS, this change will not trigger
the problem that above commit fixed.

drm: prime: fix refcounting on the dmabuf import error path

In commit be8a42ae60 we inroduced a refcount problem, where on the
drm_gem_prime_fd_to_handle() error path we'll call dma_buf_put() for
self imported dma buffers.

Fix this by taking a reference on the dma buffer in the .gem_import
hook instead of assuming the caller had taken one. Besides fixing the
bug this is also more logical.

drm/prime: keep a reference from the handle to exported dma-buf (v6)

Currently we have a problem with this:
1. i915: create gem object
2. i915: export gem object to prime
3. radeon: import gem object
4. close prime fd
5. radeon: unref object
6. i915: unref object

i915 has an imported object reference in its file priv, that isn't
cleaned up properly until fd close. The reference gets added at step 2,
but at step 6 we don't have enough info to clean it up.

The solution is to take a reference on the dma-buf when we export it,
and drop the reference when the gem handle goes away.

So when we export a dma_buf from a gem object, we keep track of it
with the handle, we take a reference to the dma_buf. When we close
the handle (i.e. userspace is finished with the buffer), we drop
the reference to the dma_buf, and it gets collected.

This patch isn't meant to fix any other problem or bikesheds, and it doesn't
fix any races with other scenarios.

v1.1: move export symbol line back up.

v2: okay I had to do a bit more, as the first patch showed a leak
on one of my tests, that I found using the dma-buf debugfs support,
the problem case is exporting a buffer twice with the same handle,
we'd add another export handle for it unnecessarily, however
we now fail if we try to export the same object with a different gem handle,
however I'm not sure if that is a case I want to support, and I've
gotten the code to WARN_ON if we hit something like that.

v3: cleanup error handling, track import vs export in linked list,
these two patches were separate previously, but seem to work better
like this.

NFSD: SECINFO doesn't handle unsupported pseudoflavors correctly

If nfsd4_do_encode_secinfo() can't find GSS info that matches an
export security flavor, it assumes the flavor is not a GSS
pseudoflavor, and simply puts it on the wire.

However, if this XDR encoding logic is given a legitimate GSS
pseudoflavor but the RPC layer says it does not support that
pseudoflavor for some reason, then the server leaks GSS pseudoflavor
numbers onto the wire.

I confirmed this happens by blacklisting rpcsec_gss_krb5, then
attempted a client transition from the pseudo-fs to a Kerberos-only
share.  The client received a flavor list containing the Kerberos
pseudoflavor numbers, rather than GSS tuples.

The encoder logic can check that each pseudoflavor in flavs[] is
less than MAXFLAVOR before writing it into the buffer, to prevent
this.  But after "nflavs" is written into the XDR buffer, the
encoder can't skip writing flavor information into the buffer when
it discovers the RPC layer doesn't support that flavor.

So count the number of valid flavors as they are written into the
XDR buffer, then write that count into a placeholder in the XDR
buffer when all recognized flavors have been encoded.

Revert "bnx2x: allow nvram test to run when device is down"

This reverts commit d2d2d87dfd1a25ee270994c5b9e3eb4690428d32
("bnx2x: allow nvram test to run when device is down").

Since it makes access to the device in D3 state possible.
More work is required to make sure device is not set to D3
during ifdown. Until this is done the nvram-test should simply
exit if device is down like it did before.

sata_highbank: Rename proc_name to the module name

mkinitrd looks at /sys/class/scsi_host/host$hostnum/proc_name to find
the module name of a disk driver. Current name is "highbank-ahci" but
the module is "sata_highbank". Rename it to match the module name.

ACPI/libata: Restore libata.noacpi support

This patch restores libata.noacpi support to libata-acpi.c.
There are broken optional control methods for ATA controller devices in the
real world.  The libata.noacpi has been used for a long time as a
workaround to deal with issues caused by the broken ASL codes.

with or without "libata.noacpi=1" kernel command line argument.

[libata] acpi: make ata_ap_acpi_handle not block

Since commit 30dcf76acc, ata_ap_acpi_handle will always do a namespace
walk, which requires acquiring an acpi namespace mutex. This made it
impossible to be used when calling path has held a spinlock.

For example, it can occur in the following code path for pata_acpi:

          ata_acpi_stm
            ata_ap_acpi_handle

This caused scheduling while atomic bug, as reported in bug #56781.

Actually, ata_ap_acpi_handle doesn't have to walk the namespace every
time it is called, it can simply return the bound acpi handle on the
corresponding SCSI host. The reason previously it is not done this way
is, ata_ap_acpi_handle is used in the binding function
ata_acpi_bind_host by ata_acpi_gtm when the handle is not bound to the
SCSI host yet. Since we already have the ATA port's handle in its
binding function, we can simply use it instead of calling
ata_ap_acpi_handle there. So introduce a new function __ata_acpi_gtm,
where it will receive an acpi handle param in addition to the ATA port
which is solely used for debug statement. With this change, we can make
ata_ap_acpi_handle simply return the bound handle for SCSI host instead
of walking the acpi namespace now.

vfio: Set container device mode

Minor 0 is the VFIO container device (/dev/vfio/vfio).  On it's own
the container does not provide a user with any privileged access.  It
only supports API version check and extension check ioctls.  Only by
attaching a VFIO group to the container does it gain any access.  Set
the mode of the container to allow access.

The trivial branch added %pSR usage before actually teaching vsnprintf()
about the 'R' part of %pSR.  The 'R' causes the symbol translation to do
a "__builtin_extract_return_addr()" before symbol lookup.

That said, on most architectures __builtin_extract_return_addr() isn't
likely to do anything special, so it probably is not normally
noticeable.

name and offset.  %pS does something similar, but doesn't

printk("\n");
with a single non-interleavable in dmesg
printk("... %pSR\n", (void *)addr);

bridge: avoid OOPS if root port not found

Bridge can crash while trying to send topology change packet.
This happens if root port can't be found. This was reported by user
but currently unable to reproduce it easily. The STP conditions that cause
this are not known yet, but the problem doesn't have to be fatal.

nfsd4: don't remap EISDIR errors in rename

We're going out of our way here to remap an error to make rfc 3530
happy--but the rfc itself (nor rfc 1813, which has similar language)
gives no justification.  And disagrees with local filesystem behavior,
with Linux and posix man pages, and knfsd's implemented behavior for v2
and v3.

And the documented behavior seems better, in that it gives a little more
information--you could implement the 3530 behavior using the posix
behavior, but not the other way around.

Also, the Linux client makes no attempt to remap this error in the v4
case, so it can end up just returning EEXIST to the application in a
case where it should return EISDIR.

So honestly I think the rfc's are just buggy here--or in any case it
doesn't see worth the trouble to remap this error.

sh_eth: use random MAC address if no valid one supplied

On Renesas R-Car based development boards, although a MAC address is printed on
all the Ethernet port labels, U-Boot  doesn't write a valid MAC address  to the
Ether MAHR/MALR registers (there's no storage provided for the Ether MAC address
either), so we have to resort to using a random MAC address...

3c509.c: call SET_NETDEV_DEV for all device types (ISA/ISAPnP/EISA)

The venerable 3c509 driver only sets its device parent in one case, the ISAPnP one.
It does this with the SET_NETDEV_DEV function. It should register with the device
hierarchy in two additional cases: standard (non-PnP) ISA and EISA.

- Currently they appear here:
/sys/devices/virtual/net/eth0 (standard ISA)
/sys/devices/virtual/net/eth1 (EISA)

- Rather, they should instead be here:
/sys/devices/isa/3c509.0/net/eth0 (standard ISA)
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:07.0/00:04/net/eth1 (EISA)

audit: fix event coverage of AUDIT_ANOM_LINK

The userspace audit tools didn't like the existing formatting of the
AUDIT_ANOM_LINK event. It needed to be expanded to emit an AUDIT_PATH
event as well, so this implements the change. The bulk of the patch is
moving code out of auditsc.c into audit.c and audit.h for general use.
It expands audit_log_name to include an optional "struct path" argument
for the simple case of just needing to report a pathname. This also
makes
audit_log_task_info available when syscall auditing is not enabled,
since
it is needed in either case for process details.

audit: do not needlessly take a lock in tty_audit_exit

We were doing spin_lock_irq and spin_unlock_irq.  This is STOOPID.

If we were in interupt context we were already screwed and called
panic() in do_exit().  So the irq stuff is useless.  Also, these values
can only be changed by receiving a netlink message from current.  Since
we are in do_exit() clearly we aren't in the syscall sending the netlink
message to change these values.  Thus, just read them and go with it.

audit: add an option to control logging of passwords with pam_tty_audit

Most commands are entered one line at a time and processed as complete lines
in non-canonical mode.  Commands that interactively require a password, enter
canonical mode to do this while shutting off echo.  This pair of features
(icanon and !echo) can be used to avoid logging passwords by audit while still
logging the rest of the command.

Adding a member (log_passwd) to the struct audit_tty_status passed in by
pam_tty_audit allows control of canonical mode without echo per task.

audit: use spin_lock_irqsave/restore in audit tty code

Some of the callers of the audit tty function use spin_lock_irqsave/restore.
We were using the forced always enable version, which seems really bad.
Since I don't know every one of these code paths well enough, it makes
sense to just switch everything to the safe version.  Maybe it's a
little overzealous, but it's a lot better than an unlucky deadlock when
we return to a caller with irq enabled and they expect it to be
disabled.

With the LSI FW643 rev 8 [1], the first commanded bus reset at
the conclusion of ohci_enable() has been observed to fail with
the following messages:

indicates the PHY arbitration state machine has timed out prior to

enabled within 1 ms.

Test LPS latching every 1 ms rather than every 50ms.

The cputime scaling code was changed/fixed and does not need the

sched: Avoid prev->stime underflow

Dave Hansen reported strange utime/stime values on his system:

This happens because prev->stime value is bigger than rtime
value. Root of the problem are non-monotonic rtime values (i.e.
current rtime is smaller than previous rtime) and that should be
debugged and fixed.

But since problem did not manifest itself before commit
62188451f0d63add7ad0cd2a1ae269d600c1663d "cputime: Avoid
multiplication overflow on utime scaling", it should be threated
as regression, which we can easily fixed on cputime_adjust()
function.

For now, let's apply this fix, but further work is needed to fix
root of the problem.

sched: Do not account bogus utime

Due to rounding in scale_stime(), for big numbers, scaled stime
values will grow in chunks. Since rtime grow in jiffies and we
calculate utime like below:

prev->stime = max(prev->stime, stime);
prev->utime = max(prev->utime, rtime - prev->stime);

we could erroneously account stime values as utime. To prevent
that only update prev->{u,s}time values when they are smaller
than current rtime.

sched: Avoid cputime scaling overflow

Here is patch, which adds Linus's cputime scaling algorithm to the
kernel.

This is a follow up (well, fix) to commit
d9a3c9823a2e6a543eb7807fb3d15d8233817ec5 ("sched: Lower chances
of cputime scaling overflow") which commit tried to avoid
multiplication overflow, but did not guarantee that the overflow
would not happen.

Linus crated a different algorithm, which completely avoids the
multiplication overflow by dropping precision when numbers are
big.

It was tested by me and it gives good relative error of
scaled numbers. Testing method is described here:

x86/pci/mrst: Use configuration mechanism 1 for 00:00.0, 00:02.0, 00:03.0

For real PCI devices 00:00.0, 00:02.0 and 00:03.0, there is either no
PCI shim, or no guarantee of data correctness of offset 256-4k.  So for
whatever reason, Linux kernel should not do MMCFG PCI config access to
those devices.  Instead, always use configuration mechanism 1 for those
devices.

The 00:00.0, 00:02.0 and 00:03.0 devices are built-in single-function
devices and are not PCI-PCI bridges, so this set of devices should be
complete.

efi: locking fix in efivar_entry_set_safe()

The intent is that if we aren't allowed to block because we're in an
NMI or an emergency then we only take the lock if it is uncontended.

Part of the problem is the test is reversed so we return -EBUSY if we
acquire the lock.

efi, pstore: Read data from variable store before memcpy()

Seiji reported getting empty dmesg-* files, because the data was never
actually read in efi_pstore_read_func(), and so the memcpy() was copying
garbage data.

This patch necessitated adding __efivar_entry_get() which is callable
between efivar_entry_iter_{begin,end}(). We can also delete
__efivar_entry_size() because efi_pstore_read_func() was the only
caller.

arm64: klib: bitops: fix unpredictable stxr usage

We're currently relying on unpredictable behaviour in our testops
(test_and_*_bit), as stxr is unpredictable when the status register and
the source register are the same

This patch changes reallocates the status register so as to bring us back into
the realm of predictable behaviour. Boot tested on an AEMv8 model.

mmc: sdhci-s3c: Fix operation on non-single image Samsung platforms

Commit cc014f3 (mmc: sdhci-s3c: remove platform dependencies) changed
the platform dependency in Kconfig to depend on SAMSUNG_SINGLE, meaning
the driver was available only on single zImage Samsung platforms.  This
breaks platforms that haven't been converted such as S3C64xx.  Revert
that part of the change to fix.

[arnd: CONFIG_SAMSUNG_SINGLE was actually introduced only for
non-multiplatform configurations, but was subsequently removed,
which means the driver was now broken both for single- and multi-
platform. The dependency was there by accident anyway, so reverting
this is still the correct solution]

ARM: OMAP2+: only WARN if a GPMC child probe function fail

If any of the GPMC child nodes fails, this shouldn't make the
whole gpmc_probe_dt() function to fail. It is better to just
WARN and allow other devices probe function to succeed.

ARM: OMAP2+: only search for GPMC DT child nodes on probe

The GPMC DT probe function use for_each_node_by_name() to search
child device nodes of the GPMC controller. But this function does
not use the GPMC device node as the root of the search and instead
search across the complete Device Tree.

This means that any device node on the DT that is using any of the
GPMC child nodes names searched for will be returned even if they
are not connected to the GPMC, making the gpmc_probe_xxx_child()
function to fail.

Fix this by using the GPMC device node as the search root so the
search will be restricted to its children.

'entry' needs to be initialised in efi_pstore_erase() when iterating
